Who Are the Avatars?
In the movie Avatar (1 & 2), Avatars are bodies that have been genetically modified to look like a hybrid of humans and the Na’vi race.

The selected candidates, otherwise known as drivers, are connected psionically with avatar bodies. The avatars are then sent to visit Pandora to engage with the natives of Pandora and study them.
Since human DNA is used in this procedure, the Avatar’s facial features reflect those of the drivers. If the driver is not psionically connected to them, avatars cannot work.
The Avatars are developed in an artificial womb called an amnio tank. Before the journey to Pandora begins, the drivers are put into cryogenic sleep through the amnio tank.

Who are the Na’vi People?
The Na’vi are a sapient humanoid species that inhabit the jungles on the lush moon of Pandora.
The Na’vi are extremely intelligent, with technology comparable to the Old Stone Age on Earth.
Many physical features set them aside from other sapiens species, including their size, large eyes, and rapid growth.
They also have smooth, luminous skin ranging in color. From greenish-cyan and turquoise in oceanic clans to darker blues in the jungle-dwelling Na’vi like the Omatikaya.
The Na’vi are hunter-gatherers with a highly developed civilization centered around spiritual connection to other creatures on their moon, to each other, and to an ambient goddess named Eywa.
Generally, a female Na’vi will give birth to one to ten children separated by significant time, and their lifespan is 30% longer than humans.
How Tall are the Avatars?
A typical adult-size avatar is between 7 1⁄2 feet to 8 1⁄2 feet tall, while a typical adult-size Na’vi is between 9 feet to 10 feet tall.
Na’vi size varies by clan, region, and their ancestry. The most significant discovered height is 3.9 meters, approximately 12 feet 10 inches tall.
When fully grown, the avatar looks much more like the long-limbed Na’vi people than a human. They also inherit most of their physical features.
