Who is Sydney Brooke Simpson?
Sydney Brooke Simpson is the fourth child of O.J. Simpson and the first child of Nicole Brown Simpson. She was born in Los Angeles, California, on October 17, 1985.
Before the birth of Sydney Brooke, her father, O.J. Simpson, was married to Marguerite Whitley in 1967. However, O.J. Simpson started dating Sydney Brooke’s mother, Nicole Brown, in 1977 during his marriage with his first wife, Whitley.
Two years later, Simpson and Whitley got divorced. Nicole Brown and Simpson became a couple on February 2, 1985. Their marriage produced two children— Sydney Brooke Simpson and Justin Ryan Simpson.
The Divorce and Saga Between Sydney Brooke’s Parents
On February 25, 1992, Nicole Brown filed for divorce from the marriage based on irreconcilable differences.
The following year, the couple tried to reconcile and get back together, but it failed.
During this period, Nicole Brown had custody of their children, Sydney Brooke Simpson and Justin Ryan, until she died in 1994.
Sydney and Ryan, who were only eight and five years old, respectively, had to deal with more woes when their father, O.J. Simpson, was arrested and accused of the death of their mother.
After 11 months of investigation, the Jury in charge of Simpson’s trial acquitted him on October 3, 1995.
Where is Sydney Brooke Simpson Now?
After the death of her mother, Sydney Brooke’s maternal grandparents, Louis and Juditha Brown, took custody of Sydney and her brother Justin.
However, after Simpson’s acquittal for murder, he shared custody of the children with his ex-wife’s parents.
Sydney Brooke is 39 years old at the time of this writing. She has chosen to live a private life due to the publicity her father’s trial received.
She also decided to use a fake name— Portia, during her employment in 2009 at a restaurant in Atlanta where she works.
According to Daphne Barak, who saw Sydney in 2009 at the restaurant in Atlanta:
I chatted with the shy waitress. Her colleagues in the busy restaurant said she keeps to herself. They described her as ‘very quiet, as if she has a problem she can’t talk about.’
Career and Education
After obtaining her high school diploma, Sydney Brooke Simpson attended Boston University College of Arts & Sciences.
In May 2010, she graduated from the university with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Sociology.
She resides in St. Petersburg, Florida, where she started her company, Simspy LLC., a real estate company established in 2014.
